Nuclear Weapons Are Illegal: Phoenix Supports the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons

Petition Text

Like other cities around the United States and the world, ours should pass a resolution in support of our country ratifying the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW).

Why is this important?

Nine nations collectively have approximately 13,100 nuclear weapons in their arsenals

The detonation of even a small number of these weapons could have catastrophic human and environmental consequences

Mayors in the United States will bear an overwhelming burden to manage the resources needed to address the impact of a nuclear explosion.
